The Dragon Boat Festival (端午节) falls on Friday, 19 June 2026. Fuzhou runs its main races on the Min River, with Jiangbin Park (north bank) and the Cangshan embankment (south bank) as the best free viewing spots.
Expect a morning of heats from ~09:30, a midday break, and finals from 15:00. Traditional zongzi stalls, short cultural performances and a small maker market run alongside the course on the north bank all day. The Minjiang Night Cruise adds extra departures for the evening — a good way to see the lantern-decorated boats moored after the races.
Practical: Metro Line 2 to Zihu or Line 1 to Putou for the nearest walk-ins. Bring a hat and water — shade along the embankment is limited before noon. Crowds peak between 14:30 and 16:00; if you want photos, aim for the morning heats.
