This is the route that turned Shapowei into the most-posted Xiamen neighbourhood on Xiaohongshu. Start at a Buddhist temple, walk along a wall-enclosed elite university, end at an old fishing harbour full of cafés — all on flat, shaded ground, in 2.5 hours.
- 14:00 — Nanputuo Temple. 45 minutes inside. Exit by the side gate.
- 14:45 — Daxue Road boundary walk. Follow Xiamen University's seafront wall west; banyan trees line the road, and on clear days you'll see the South China Sea through the gaps.
- 15:30 — Enter Shapowei via the east alley. Immediately swing north to Art West District — print studios, small-batch ceramics, independent bookshop (Qunxing Books).
- 16:15 — First coffee. Pick one of the Daxue Road specialty shops. Cold brew on a warm day; hand-drip if you're serious.
- 17:00 — Harbour basin and mural walk. Walk around the fishing-boat basin. Murals on the north alleys. Golden-hour shots at the south-end viewpoint.
- 18:00 — Dinner + drink. Minnan small-dish restaurant inside Shapowei, then a livehouse if there's a set — check the chalk schedule at The Real Live House or Dumb Dumb.
Alternative end: from Shapowei, 10-minute taxi to Zengcuoan for street food, or 15 minutes to Zhongshan Road for arcade classics.
